Benifiting the Hero Iniaitive
About The Hero Iniaitive
In late 2000, a consortium of comic publishers came up with the idea to create a financial safety net for comic creators, much in the same fashion that exists in almost any other trade from plumbing to pottery. By March of 2001, the federal government approved The Hero Initiative as a publicly supported not-for-profit corporation under section 501 (c) (3).
Since its inception, The Hero Initiative (Formerly known as A.C.T.O.R., A Commitment To Our Roots) has had the good fortune to grant over $500,000 to over 50 comic book veterans who have paved the way for those in the industry today.
The Hero Initiative is the first-ever federally chartered not-for-profit corporation dedicated strictly to helping comic book creators in need. Hero creates a financial safety net for yesterdays' creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work. It's a chance for all of us to give back something to the people who have given us so much enjoyment.

Items
Original 2012 GCCC Poster Art!
This is the original artwork by Sean Forney and Josh Medors, featuring the Scarlet Spider. This represents 3 pieces and 2 auction items. The detail is awesome and these pictures do not do it justice! It must be seen to be believed!
First are the 2 piece pencils on 11X17 Bristol by Sean Forney. The foreground features the Scarlett Spider Ben Reilley. The background features the WSU Student Union site o the 2012 GCCC. Both pieces will be auctioned as one lot.

Second is the inked blue line by Josh Medors featuring just the Scarlet Spider. The detail is very fine, dare I say amazing and spectacular!

RENT MARK WAID
Do you need a love letter written? How about a special book dedication, wedding vows, a toast for a special occasion, or just a page of comic-book script penned just for you about your favorite character? Freelance writer Mark Waid will auction his short-term services as a writer to the highest bidder! A few ground rules--nothing tasteless, nothing libelous or harmful. He won't do your homework or write hate mail to your ex; all must be in good fun. Limit 200 words (he's a writer, not a slave!) unless Waid gets carried away, as he can do. Winner will consult with Mark after the auction and then have his prize delivered by end-of-convention Sunday.
